AirPlay lets you wirelessly stream what’s on your iOS device to your HDTV and speakers via Apple TV. Or mirror exactly what’s on your display to the big screen. Vacation photos, blockbusters, the latest games — AirPlay and Apple TV put it all on your TV.
I'm using an Apple Airport Extreme base station for my home WiFi network. On iOS6 I was able to stream music from my iPhone 4S to my 1st Generation Apple TV. With iOS 7 the 1st Generation Apple TV is still recognized by the Apple Remote App on my iPhone 4S, but the AirPlay icon doesn't appear. I've recycled my iPhone with a soft and hard reset several times, but it still doesn't show. I've also recycled my Airport Extreme to see if the network refresh would cause it to pop up, but no luck.
I noticed that when doing a hard reset by pressing the power and home buttons simultaneously (the action that you would use to take an iPhone screenshot) that I can get the AirPlay icon to show up intermittently. Sometimes it shows up temporarily and other times it sticks around, but I haven't been able to control it at all.
See the four additional pictures below which show what happens. Once the icon shows up, though, iPhone 4S doesn't seem to see the Apple TV and I'm not able to select Apple TV.
