In a recent episode, an entrepreneur, Christopher Johnson, was pitching his Rapid Ramen cooker, which is just a plastic bowl, shaped like a pre-cooked Ramen noodle brick, that goes in the microwave and cooks the noodles to perfection.
Mark Cuban initially beat him up a little and said he was out, then he came back and invested, after the entrepreneur negotiated him down a bit on his offer.
It was an impressive negotiating job by Chris, because he had two other sharks, Robert and Mr. Wonderful, also offering a deal, albeit with a royalty. After the pitch, obviously psyched that he's just made a deal with the billionaire Mark Cuban, Chris comments about how "success is all about proximity" and how this deal will help his company just by being closer to a billionaire.
I really enjoyed his quote. Congrats to Chris!
"Making a deal with Mark Cuban is huge for me, 'cause I know to build wealth, it's all about proximity. You hang around four broke people, you'll be the fifth. You hang around even one billionaire, that proximity can impact your life."
